Finding the best stream webcam for your twitch channel can be challenging. If you’re looking for a webcam, you have probably thought “what webcam does ninja use?”

What Webcam Does drdisrespect Use

By the end of this article, I’ll not only answer those questions, but we’ll break down the specifics of what you should consider when you’re shopping for the best stream webcam.

If you decide to use the links I provide below to purchase one of the products I mention, a portion of the sales go to me. So let me say thank you ahead of time.

Take Your Stream Beyond Their Expectations. The Resolution…

The resolution a webcam can produce is important on a level subject to limitations of the webcams hardware and the quality you are comfortable with. Both for the sake of how much load you want to put on your stream and also how clear you want the webcam to be.

Let’s consider the typical stream.

The webcam layered over the top of a game being streamed. (oldmangamur)

For a setup like this, anything 720p or higher is nice and clear. Keep in mind that you’re broadcasting your game at either 720 or 1080. You’re taking the webcam output and squishing it down to reduce the territory it occupies on the game you are broadcasting. So the difference in quality you see between 1080 and 720 on your webcam when it gets sized down to something like 450×350 is noticeable, but hardly.

The same setup that ninja, summit1g and drdisrespect use. In which case, you would be looking for the Logitech C920 or C922.

The C920 is what all 3 of the aforementioned streamers use and for good reasons. It’s affordable, it can put out 1080@30fps and it tends to produce a great image. It can easily be considered the best stream webcam.

On the other hand, the C922 has a background eliminating function that could potentially save you some money on a green screen (more about that later). Although the function is not as clean as using an actual green screen, the c922 is still produces a great image and can manage to product a 1080@60fps output.

A close competitor to the C920 is the Razer Kiyo. If you want to spend a little more for a conveniently lit output, the Razer Kiyo provides a solution for lighting by having a ring light around the camera. Just make sure you adjust the white balance in OBS so that you get the right tone. This webcam will often increase the white balance a bit too high when on auto.

The Logitech Brio has 4k capabilities for those who plan to vlog with a serious amount of detail. Maybe even IRL streams, but honestly it’s overkill for a game stream unless you’re planning to do a lot of full scale scenes.

Left With 3 Legs To Stand On… Or Not?

Each webcam comes with their own unique stand design that makes it easy to set on top of a monitor, laptop or desktop. On top of that, each webcam is capable of being mounted on a traditional tripod. The c922 also has options available with a tripod pre-packaged for convenience. Here are some tripod recommendations in case you need something to put the webcam in more creative places.

Conclusion

Choosing the best stream webcam for your channel is a crucial part of building your twitch following. You may have noticed that I tend to lean toward the c920 but that’s simply because the c920 is a tough product to beat. The c922 comes close, but when you’re looking for something that gets you the best bang for your buck the c920 is the obvious winner in that category. In many cases, it is simply the best stream webcam.

The Kiyo being an interesting selection when you don’t have a lighting solution already in place. Maybe even for a stream that specializes in dark environments while streaming ( a horror or ghost hunting stream?).

And finally the Brio for something like an IRL stream. I would suggest using it at 1080 because it produces a pretty spectacular 1080 image and 4k isn’t really being used on twitch as of now.
